Still Burning + Q&A
Institute of Contemporary Arts
Still Burning, Dir. Georges Hachem, Lebanon, 2016, 110 mins, Arabic with English subtitles

While shooting his latest production, a stranger enters André’s life – a successful Lebanese filmmaker living and working in France. Cinema is not the only the link between André and the stranger, Walid; women from their distant past in Beirut also connect them. As secrets gradually emerge, the scars of the Civil War resurface. This film within a film stars award-winning Lebanese-Canadian playwright Wajdi Mouawad, of Incendies, as the film's central character. Still Burning explores the thin line between reality and fiction and the function of storytelling in times of anxiety.
