An ICA initiative established in close collaboration with Cineteca Madrid, Sundance Documentary Institute and Kingston University, PROGRESSIO is a development platform that fosters discursive, horizontal discussions around the cinema of the real, supporting filmmakers to develop and strengthen their blossoming projects and creating unique and stimulating exchanges and institutional collaborations.
The second edition of PROGRESSIO brings together industry professionals and two selected filmmakers to offer guidance, feedback and support for a generation of emerging voices. The wider intention is to engage discursively with the aesthetical and political aspects of the selected works within FRAMES of REPRESENTATION, which this year includes the UK premiere of one the two projects developed at the inaugural edition of PROGRESSIO in 2019: Javier Fernández Vázquez’s feature A Storm Was Coming
, which received its world premiere in the Forum section of the Berlin International Film Festival in February. For 2020, PROGRESSIO expands from one day to two, with the second day featuring a masterclass and a collaborative workshop focused on writing and film.
