Institute of Contemporary Arts

Un Film Dramatique), dir. Éric Baudelaire, 2019, 114 min., France, French with English subtitles

Franco-American visual artist and filmmaker Éric Baudelaire is joined by scholar Erika Balsom for a discussion preceding the screening of Un Film Dramatique. Crossing boundaries and cultures, Baudelaire has consistently directed work with international narratives in films such as The Anabasis of May and Fusako Shigenobu, Masao Adachi and 27 Years without Images (2011), The Ugly One (2013) and Also Known as Jihadi (2017). This discussion will explore Baudelaire’s creative practice, touching on themes such as intergenerational contact and ideological clashes.
