Interrogating the iconography of queer culture, collaborators Hannah Quinlan and Rosie Hastings draw upon sound, moving image and the live event in this immersive performance that forms part of their ongoing project Hope, Joy, Youth, Peace, Rest, Life, Dust, Ashes, Waste, Want, Ruin, Despair, Madness, Death, Cunning, Folly, Words, Wigs, Rags, Sheepskin, Plunder, Precedent, Jargon, Gammon, and Spinach.
Continuing their ongoing collaboration with singer-songwriter Jesse Hultberg, dancer Ted Rogers and musicians Severin Black, Owen Pratt and Milo McKinnon, Quinlan and Hastings transform the ICA Theatre into a live environment that riffs on the tensions between queer subcultures and the commercialisation of the gay mainstream.

, the ICA’s annual convening dedicated to experiments in artists’ moving image, considering the intersectional, cross-disciplinary possibilities of the medium.
Hannah Quinlan and Rosie Hastings (both born 1991 Newcastle, London) live and work in London. They have participated in group shows including the recent Cruising Pavilion: Architecture, Gay Sex and Cruising Culture, ArkDes, Stockholm; Kiss My Genders, Hayward Gallery, London; and Queer Spaces: London, 1980s – Today, Whitechapel Gallery, London (all 2019). Solo presentations include Something for The Boys, Two Queens, Leicester (2018) and Gaby, Queer Thoughts, NYC (2018). An exhibition at Focal Point Gallery, Southend-on-Sea is forthcoming in 2020. Recent performances took place for Art Night (2019), Move Festival, Pompidou Centre (2019), and Kiss My Gender Live, Southbank Centre (2019).
