Coco Fusco: We Need New Institutions, Not New Art
Here artist, writer and curator Coco Fusco draws parallels with the early 1990s to make the point that it is not artists who need to change, but rather art institutions that need to learn from them and start applying this knowledge. The text was originally written for the Ford Foundation’s Creative Futures series.

Curated by Love is a Kind of Cure, this wonderful read-along celebrates the 50th anniversary of The Bluest Eye, Toni Morrison’s debut novel. The readers come from across the world, highlighting the reach of Morrison’s fiction, including a keynote discussion featuring Nikki Giovanni who reflects on the story and its relevance to contemporary black feminist struggle.

In this deeply engaging interview, writer, art historian and sublime photographer Teju Cole speaks of his latest photography project developed over the last few years in Switzerland. He confronts wider concerns about his own practice and methodology, and, including how he started to consider the idea that space can emanate a force based on the quintessence of the photographer’s vision.


Oceanic Feeling and Communist Affect
This talk by scholar Jackie Wang discusses the social implications and potential for oceanic feeling to serve as an affective foundation for communistic social modes. Tracing its psychoanalytic and philosophical debates, Wang suggests how the oceanic could be situated in a process of becoming that could radically alter an orientation toward the world.


CTM MusicMakers Hacklab 2021
Artists from anywhere with an internet connection are invited to apply to be part of MusicMakers Hacklab. If selected, they will work together remotely to explore new means of collaboration and performance across distance with a new virtual performance taking place at CTM in 2021.
