Junior XL’s sound presses to exist outside of imagery, time and language. The music combines traditions of live instrumentation with the functionality of dance music to create something that moves the body but feels like a song. He also composes for artists and dancers including Adham Faramawy, Jamila Johnson-Small and Gery Georgieva.

Watch

Thanks to the International Film Festival Rotterdam programming team for this wonderful discovery – a striking and compassionate portrait of artists at work, including the young David Hockney. In this year’s IFFR programme ‘The Tyger Burns’, they also showed Fragments, a brand new film by the same director on Hockney’s contemporary Derek Boshier.

Track of the Day

I see the clouds
Oh, I see the sky
Everything is clear in our world
