ICA Executive Director Gregor Muir takes a look at the week ahead.

Please note that the ICA Bookshop will be closed for a stock take until 6pm Tuesday 19 March.

Dear All,

We say farewell to our Juergen Teller Woo! exhibition - a landmark show for the ICA. But we also welcomed in the new last week with Frank Benson's Flag (Union Jack), our latest outdoor sculpture that now greets anyone coming near The Mall. We also look forward to Bernadette Corporation: 2000 Wasted Years and The Independent Group: Parallel of Art & Life, both of which open on Wednesday 27 March 2013.

Among other events at the ICA this week –

Today we have Massimiliano Gioni, Director of the 55th Venice Biennale in conversation with Ute Meta Bauer, Dean of Fine Arts at the Royal College of Art. This talk is now sold out but we will be filming their conversation, which will be available online shortly with the rest of our talks.

On Wednesday 20 March we have Freedom of Photography, a talk by writer/curator David Campany and photographer Jason Evans, who will be discussing why photography is a medium whose freedom is of paramount importance to its success and popularity.

Our Cinema programme includes the Human Rights Watch Film Festival 2013 that continues until Thursday 21 March, Post Tenebras Lux from Friday 22 March onwards, a film by maverick writer-director Reygadas that observes a dissolute Mexican family in their mountain retreat, and We Went to War by filmmakers Michael Grigsby & Rebekah Tolley that screens on Sunday 24 March with a Q&A.

Our Culture Now on Friday 22 March has singer songwriter Vashti Bunyan in conversation with music writer Rob Young. Vashti Bunyan is famous for her album Just Another Diamond Day, and Rob Young is a Contributing Editor of The Wire magazine and the author of Electric Eden: Unearthing Britain’s Visionary Music (Faber and Faber, 2010).

I hope you can make it to one of these events. Have a great week ahead!

Very best wishes,

Gregor Muir
ICA Executive Director
